Summary

Recounts toll of 1918 flu pandemic and use of open air hospitals, as well as open air facilities during war and for tuberculosis. Some indication that being outdoors may help with recovery of various kinds, possible mechanisms may include exposure to sunlight, fresh air, or absence of poor ventilation found eg in hosptials. All of this needs study, as does eg the primary transmission mechanism for flu (unknown whether primarily droplet or airborne).
