Summary

Air-purifying respirators (e.g., N95, N99, or N100) are recommended for workers involved with avian influenza–infected birds or patients, but may not be available. Authors make a respiratory mask from a t-shirt and test its "fit factor" with the authors' face sizes. Find that "although insufficient for the workplace, this mask offered substantial protection from the challenge aerosol and showed good fit with minimal leakage."
