STOP SOPA ☣ STOP RWA
Two bills are making their way through the U.S. Congress that would have highly negative consequences for AcaWiki and the public good. Please take action against both.
Many large sites are blacked out January 18 to spur action against SOPA. Visit americancensorship.org to take action against this bill, which is a censorship and security risk for the entire internet. Wikimedia's General Counsel explains how SOPA would hurt wikis.
RWA would prohibit federal agencies from conditioning their grants to require that articles reporting on publicly funded research be made accessible to the public online. This is unjust and would specifically harm AcaWiki by greatly reducing the number of people with access to important literature — access is required to summarize. Please tell congresspeople to oppose RWA.
See AcaWiki:SOPA-RWA for planning and discussion of this message.

Installing AcaWiki Summary CSL
You'll need to have Zotero installed first. Once you've done that, here's how to install and use it:
- Download acawiki.csl.
- Add the CSL file to Zotero:
- Open Zotero.
- Click on the gear icon.
- Click on Preferences.
- Click on the Styles icon in the preferences dialog.
- Click on the + button.
- Find the file you have downloaded on your local disk drive and click Open.
- Add the style as an export default for AcaWiki:
- From within the preferences dialog (see above), click the Export icon.
- Click on the + button.
- Type acawiki.org in the box under Domain/Path.
- Select AcaWiki Summary in the button box under Output Format'.
Using AcaWiki Summary CSL
Using AcaWiki Summary CSL is easy but it means you shouldn't create things with a normal Post A Summary link. Instead, you should create a page the old fashioned way:
- Check to make sure the article you want to create doesn't exist yet!
- Navigate to a page of the form "http://acawiki.org/My_article_title_here" except use the actual title.
- You can use spaces instead of underscores (the wiki will convert them).
- What I do is just type "acawiki.org/" in my URL bar and then paste the title of the article out of Zotero into the URL bar. That seems to work!
- You will be taken to a page that says There is currently no text in this page. There will be a link on that page that says, edit this page. Click on that link!
- You will see a big blank text box. Now just drag your post out of Zotero into the box. It should automatically paste in a properly formatted AcaWiki summary template.
- Edit the template as you see fit.
- Either paste in the summary after |summary= or click Save. In a two step process, you can then click the Edit link to edit and add the summary.
- Rinse. Repeat.
